On May 7th, 2005, 23 people surprised owners Daniel and Elizabeth White of Shoe Box Nursery with the announcement they had been chosen 'Best of the Bunch'.

Owned and operated by husband and wife Daniel and Elizabeth White, Shoe Box Nursery opened June 2004 on their last $135. That sure inspires confidence in possibilities!
Daniel has been continuously drawn to plants and landscaping throughout adulthood, most recently with a local garden center. The nursery's healthy, happy herbs and outdoor plants are displayed on the outside wall of Lewis Food market.
If it wasn't for the big green Shoe Box Nursery (now Gypsy Trillium Nursery) sign, it would look like an extension of the grocery... but it's much more than that! All plants are organically home-grown with tender loving care. Daniel and Elizabeth have a strong sense of community so, as much as possible, they purchase supplies, such as pots, locally.
Daniel & Elizabeth's Saturday began disastrously when their truck broke down four times! They finally abandoned their unreliable vehicle and walked to the nursery, opening late as a result. When our enthusiastic group arrived to celebrate them and their business they were thrilled!
It's particularly interesting that their intention to drop Elizabeth and some plants at the Moss Street Market was thwarted by the breakdown, which then allowed her to be present for the Grapevine presentation. Everything happens for a reason.

Check out Shoe Box Nursery's healthy plants at either their Foul Bay Road location, or at the Moss Street Market...
